Forests and timber

Three measurements from two sources: what the country's forests are, how much roundwood is felled from them, and what timber fetched at the latest exchange auction. They are not arithmetic on one another, and the page says so where it matters.

The state of the forests

The record has holes in it: no growing stock and no increment were published for 1995–1997 or for 2000. The charts leave those years empty instead of drawing across them — a line over a gap is measurement that was never made.

Roundwood felled

Roundwood produced in state and in private forests, thousand cubic metres WITHOUT BARK. This series begins in 2020, so it is a far shorter record than the ones above it.

These figures cannot be set against the increment above: the increment and the growing stock are measured OVER BARK and in MILLIONS of cubic metres, the felling WITHOUT BARK and in THOUSANDS. Subtracting one from the other would compare two different measures of wood, so no balance and no ratio between them is shown anywhere on this page.

Timber prices

Baltpool is one venue of the Lithuanian timber trade, not the trade itself: most roundwood changes hands outside the exchange. These prices are therefore never a national average and must not be merged with any other price series.

Prices at the 2026-08 auction, EUR per solid cubic metre excluding VAT. Only the assortments actually traded that month are listed — a retired product code's last price beside current ones would read as a current price.
