The highest and the lowest are taken in € only: amounts quoted in a currency that was later redenominated cannot be ranked against today’s.

Method and caveats

Monthly, in the money of the day — the money people were actually paid in. The talonas replaced the rouble in October 1991; the litas replaced the talonas at 100 to 1 in June 1993, which is visible here as 3 130 talonas in June and 35 litas in July; and the euro replaced the litas in January 2015. The line breaks at each of those months instead of running through them. Statistics Lithuania publishes the 1995–2014 amounts in euro, converted at the fixed 3.4528 rate two decades before the euro arrived; here they are restated in litas, so each one is the amount the law of that year actually set (800 Lt in 2008, for instance).

Statistics Lithuania restates every pre-2015 euro figure at the fixed rate of 3,4528 litas to the euro, so an amount shown in euro for 1995 is a converted litas amount, twenty years before the euro was adopted.
