Method and caveats

The average old-age social-insurance pension, whole country. Statistics Lithuania publishes this series in euro for its whole span, so it carries no currency breaks — but every figure before 2015 is a litas amount restated at the fixed rate, not a sum anyone was ever handed in euro. The real series is our own calculation: the published pension divided by the consumer price index and indexed to 1994 = 100, which is the earliest year both series reach. Nominal growth and real growth are very different numbers here, and only the second answers whether pensioners became better off.

Statistics Lithuania restates every pre-2015 euro figure at the fixed rate of 3,4528 litas to the euro, so an amount shown in euro for 1995 is a converted litas amount, twenty years before the euro was adopted.
